Digital designer and fine artist with approximately twenty years of experience in the creative industries with a professional knowledge of online marketing, print-ready design and multimedia asset production.

I consider myself to be a dual practitioner with a fine art practice that compliments my professional digital design. I am interested in where these two identities overlap.

I have experience of working alone and as part of a larger design team, developing branding solutions and guiding projects for inception to completion.

First Class BA (Hons) Fine Art and Professional Practice

Millfield High School
12 GCSE's above B including Maths & English

I achieved a First Class BA(Hons) in Fine Art and Professional Practice at the University Campus in Blackpool through Lancaster University. During the final year I received an A+ grade for all modules and completed the course with an aggregate score of 23.1/24. This was the highest aggregate grade ever achieved in Fine Art and Professional Practice at the Lancaster University or Blackpool campuses. The full transcript of grades is available here.

I have a working knowledge of the Adobe Creative Suite creating print ready graphics and catalogue layout designs. I also have professional experience producing video content with After Effects and Premiere Pro.

Although the majority of my creative output is developed in the Adobe Creative Suite I have experience of numerous other packages including Blender, ToonBoom and a several product specific software solutions.

Here are a small selection of my previous projects. Visit www.nicksteelart.co.uk for more information.

One year project in collaboration with Leftcoast and Showtown Blackpool on the 2020/2021 Get Dancing community dance project.

My role involved brand design, marketing graphics and dance tutorial components.

Ongoing partnership with Blackpool based House of Wingz for a number of years on a wide variety of projects. Including community events and dance productions.

Portfolio of work includes print media, online content and animated projection graphics.

In Spring 2021, LeftCoast were invited by Groundwork Cheshire, Lancashire & Merseyside and Arts Council England to create a project that would directly and regularly engage with isolated, digitally excluded elderly people living in Blackpool.

Archive of graphic design production including web based design, print media, CAD modelling and digital art production.

The majority of content produced with the Adobe Creative Suite.

A variety of studio projects including sculpture, painting, drawing and digital art.

I generally regard my studio practice as way of developing my skills and tend not to produce ‘commercial’ art for sale.
